About UP-2-U
One night in the fall of 2006 at a dinner party with fellow University of Oregon fans, an idea came to Karon Paul, creator of UP-2-U.
By taking sets of wooden shaped napkin rings, Karon began stacking the rings into towers, promoting lots of lively discussion and a growing interest among the group to take part in the tower building. The next day, cozy by the fireplace ready to watch the Ducks play, Karon reflected on the night before and thought about how much fun their impromptu tower game became.
With a flash of inspiration, she thought, "why not fashion a game out of stackable pieces for your favorite university and give people something fun to do the next time they get together with their college friends and family members" And, with that UP-2-U was born, with the first edition customized for the inspirational team — The University of Oregon Ducks.
Armed with her big idea, Karon asked her partner in J-K Pursuits, John Kemp, to help her determine if the idea was viable and what their potential next steps would be. John, a respected business man with extensive marketing experience, thought the concept had strong legs to reach beyond the Duck fan base. After 15 months of rigorous development, testing cycles, trademarks and a provisional patent, it was game time.
"With a stack of UP-2-U playing cards, a roll of the customized dice and two shapes of wooden logo pieces — U of O stylized "O", and webbed duck feet — fans can make up their own wild rules and celebrate their team all year round as they strategize, form alliances, and compete to build the tallest tower," said creator, Karon Paul. "Our vision is to take the fun even farther and extend UP-2-U to other Universities across the country, branded with their own customized logo pieces and school colors".
